I've been to a lot of gigs in my life. I kept the stubs for as many as I could. I'm getting old now, I'm seeing fewer new bands and more of the same. I love collecting things, and I have an interest in statistics. There was nothing to combine these things. I've had an idea for collecting songs like Pokémon cards for years now, but I've finally created it.
It's a simple idea: I wanted to track what songs I've seen of a given band, and what others have seen. I wanted to know how rare those songs are too, and I wanted to see how other people compared. I'd seen Green Day 6 times and I know every time they're going to play American Idiot and Basket Case, but how often do they play Waiting or Let Yourself Go? Was I special for seeing those? No idea. Until now.
Pokémon cards are all the rage again, a boom in popularity like never seen before, even I got roped back into it (albeit just a few singles). Why not combine the two? A blank page listing your songs and statistics doesn't scratch the itch. Anyone who's collected anything understands the fun of going back and looking at your collection from time to time, and presenting your songs and gigs in such a way should help relive memories and bring some level of satisfaction.
There is nothing special happening here, tying together a few APIs in a clever way, and some basic design knowledge, and lots of front-end knowledge.
Right now it's free, solo-built, and simple. You can add gigs, share with friends, build a collection, and pick a binder colour. Take a look at mine if you want to see it in action. Will it be free forever? Possibly, but possibly not, these things aren't free to run, and time is limited. Everything you can do today you will always be able to do.
